When we got married some of our very generous relatives gave us some money to put towards something lasting that we can keep forever.
As we’re slowly trying to replace all the generic Swedish flatpack furniture in our house to give it a little more character, we’d thought we’d start with getting a new desk, and at the weekend we found a wonderful 1840s two-drawer desk at an antiques cellar in Brackley, Oxfordshire.
We have had to leave it there till next weekend to collect as there was no space in the car, and I’m really excited to see it in situ. I love the lighter colour of the oak, the red leather detailing on top, and even the fact that someone has carved a heart on the top of it. Seems kind of perfect.
